When it comes to convenience in cooking, convection toaster ovens beat most other appliances hands down. They can toast, broil, bake, and convection bake. Apart from cooking, they can also thaw frozen foods, keep cooked food warm, and reheat leftovers without burning them. And they do all these with much less energy than your regular kitchen oven.
The Cuisinart TOB-60 Convection Toaster Oven is a fine specimen of this breed of cooking appliance. It has a sufficiently roomy interior at 0.6 cubic foot. This is enough to accommodate a small-sized whole chicken, or a 12-inch pizza, or six slices of bread. This interior is made of non-stick materials that facilitate cleaning.
A brushed stainless steel casing encloses the oven. It features a tinted glass window providing a full and unobstructed view of the food inside. Mounted on a panel to the side of the front door are three dials, one of which sets the temperature, another chooses the desired function, while the third serves as a timer.
Temperature can be adjusted from 200° to 500°F. These levels are reached and maintained by heating elements that are powered by up to 1,500 watts of electricity. Lower temperatures are used for warming or toasting while the higher levels are intended for broiling and baking. The middle dial on the panel allows you to choose between bake, convection bake, broil, toast, or warm. The timer automatically shuts the oven when the pre-set cooking time is reached. It has a maximum setting of 30 minutes. It includes and always On feature which keeps the oven running until manually turned off.
The Cuisinart TOB-60 Convection Toaster Oven Broiler comes with an oven rack, a slide-out crumb tray, broiling rack, and baking pan/drip tray. All of these are removable for ease of cleaning.
